Our Story

Who are we and what are we doing?
We are Anshi Dev, Meghna Philip, Tanya Dangwal and Divya Gopal, class 7 students from National Public School, Koramangala, Bangalore, and we have started our initiative called “LifeLine” to raise funds for an organization called “Khoon” that saves lives by making blood units available to the ones in need. It organizes blood donation camps to collect blood units, and also maintains a national network of emergency blood donors to help in emergency cases. Till date, they have got 88,000 people to register as voluntary blood donors across India and have successfully handled 7500+ emergency blood requests.

Why are we raising the funds?
3 million units – that is the reality of blood shortage in our country according to a 2012 World Health Organization (WHO) report. With a population of 1.2 billion, it is a shame that we are falling short of the required 12 million blood units annually. Lack of awareness and incorrect information or myths around blood donation in India are cited as the main reasons behind this shortfall. When we came across an NGO called Khoon that does tremendous work to make blood units available to the ones in need, we decided we should help them. Upon speaking with them, we realised they are in urgent need of funds to organize 6 blood donation camps to collect blood units in the coming months. It costs them Rs. 10,000-11,000 to organize one camp, and so in total, they need around Rs. 65,000 to organize these 6 camps. To do our bit, we started our initiative “LifeLine” to raise these funds for them. The funds will directly be used to collect blood units and will impact the people who are in urgent need of it. It’s safe to say that any amount donated may be the difference between life and death and so, we urge you too to donate and help us achieve our goal.
